Having completed our third tournament in six weeks I have mixed feelings as we prepare for the fall schecule, when we embarked on this venture there was much discussion with a mixture of bowlers to see if there was a following out there to make it successful, the format we created was well received and we option to move forward, we are very thankful for those who attended the first three tournaments but on the other hand greatly disappointed with the bowlers who assured us of their support and have not attended one tournament. I have talked to bowlers who have attended our GTA Bowling Tournaments and the overall response was to maintain our current format, we may tweak it a bit over the summer but I don't see any major changes coming. I find it interesting when discussing our 9 pin no-tap tournaments that the biggest excuse is that they have a 200 plus average and are at a disadvantage, giving up 20-25 pins per game, yet the winners in the first three men' division tournaments paid out were 4 averages in the 180's,2 in the 190's,3 in the 200-204 range,4 scratch bowlers, this confirms what I have been saying all along, putting all our lame excuses aside, whether it is a 9 pin no-tap, handicapped or scratch tournament you still need to bowl well to finish at the top.
For any bowler who would like to bowl in scratch tournaments, there is a Bowlers Tour that has been running for the past few years through out Southern Ontario. They feature one tournament per month starting in September. They will be posting the 2010-2011 schedule next month, for more info go to our "LINKS" page and click on Rowe Zone Bowling Store and click on tournaments, this will give you all the required info you will need.
If you want to stay in touch with what's happening with bowling in the Greater Toronto area, send us your e-mail address simply by clicking "Contact Us" at the top of the page and fill out the form and summit it. we do not share this data with anyone!)
